Mahalaxmi Race Course
22.0 km/13.7 miles from the hotel, in a stretch of South Mumbai’s upscale Mahalaxmi area lies the Mahalaxmi Race Course.
Created from the erstwhile marshy flatlands that went by the name of Mahalaxmi Flats about 100 years ago, this race course is the venue for a high point in Mumbai’s social calendar once every year, during the renowned Indian Derby. Held annually on the first Sunday of February, it is patronised by the most prominent members of Mumbai’s high society.
The horse racing season here starts in mid November and ends in the last week of April.
It is open to public in the mornings and evening during specific hours. You’re likely to find Mumbaikars exercising, walking, jogging and practicing yoga and Tai-Chi in the garden situated within the race-track during these hours.
