Hazrat Nizamuddin
About a kilometer to the south of Humayuns Tomb is the village of Hazrat Nizamuddin, one of the many historic village settlements which exist within modern-day Delhi. Sheikh Nizamuddin Auliya lived between 1236 and 1325 AD and Allaudin Khilji, Mohammed Bin Tughlak & Amir Khusrau were counted amongst his disciples. The constant crowd of devotees outside his “dargah” is testimony to the devotion he still commands. Every Thursday, after sunset, qawwals sing the lyrics of Amir Khusrau. Many large and small tombs have been built here over the centuries as the site is considered auspicious. A local guide is recommended to accompany for a visit.
