Humayuns Tomb
This is the first great example of a Mughal Garden masoleum & in many ways this magnificent red and white building is as spectacular as the Taj Mahal. The Monument was built in 1565 and was commissioned by Humayun’s senior widow, Haji Begum. The masoleum is accessed through a lofty doublestoreyed gateway and is set in the centre of a large square garden. The garden is divided into four parts by wide causeways and water channels, interspersed with fountains. The Masoleum also houses the grave of Dara Shikoh, Shah Jahan’s scholarly son. Timings: 09:00 – 17:00 Hrs. Closed on Monday.
