Simhachalam
Literally meaning "Lion's Hill", this Hindu pilgrim center is famous for the 11th century Sri Varaha Lakshminarasimha temple, which is one of the most important shrines of Lord Vishnu in the country. The temple is also one of the best-sculpted shrines in the state. The main deity is always covered with sandal paste, and the real shape of the deity can be seen during the annual Chandanayathra Festival in March-April.
