ITC Green Centre, a futuristic office complex in Sector 32, was recently awarded the Platinum Green Building rating by US-based USGBC-LEED (US Green Building Council – leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). This is the second building in India to have bagged the prestigious award. The first was CII Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre in Hyderabad. A total of eight buildings won the Platinum rating. Other buildings are in the US.
The rating is given on the basis of environment friendly features of a building such as zero wastage of water, energy saving, material used in construction, eco-friendly housekeeping practices. ITC Green Centre has incorporated features like zero water discharge, 53 per cent energy savings over conventional building, 40 per cent reduction in water use, and landscaping, use of flyash in bricks and concrete, high efficiency equipment and eco-friendly housekeeping practices.
