Kaya Kalp - The Royal Spa at ITC Mughal, Agra wins Best City Spa Award
At the Conde Nast Traveller Award ceremony in Mumbai on April 28, 2010, ITC Mughal’s Kaya Kalp The Royal Spa was the recipient of the Best City Spa Award. For the Spa which was launched on May 1, 2010, this award is a further endorsement of its truly unique qualities, that had helped it to be listed as the World’s Best City Spa by UK’s Tatler Magazine in 2008 - just 4 months after its opening.
Located in Agra, the city of the Taj Mahal and India’s most important tourist destination, Kaya Kalp The Royal Spa, has been the recipient of numerous awards for its unique theme, décor and therapies, since it pened two years ago. Designed to recreate the fabled splendour of the Mughal Dynasty, the Spa is spread across an area of 99,000 sq feet, making it the largest in Asia. A ‘Spa’ is said to denote ‘healing through or by water’ and this may be experienced in totality, since extensive use of greenery and water were the most important elements in gardens laid out by the Mughals.

Using ‘Pomegranate’ as the theme - a fruit brought to India by Babur, many traditional influences of Mughal landscaping and architecture have been created to enhance the royal experience. These include running water, fountains, outdoor rain water showers, courts full of greenery open to the skies and interiors embellished with stone inlay, intricate stone latticework, mother of pearl and mirror work.
