The area I reside is surrounded my almost 5-6 luxury star hotels. Whenever I cross those,my heart says “you should dine here someday”. Then comes the brain saying ” do you really wanna spend that much money?” Can the heart give up? “Oh come on! Visiting a luxury hotel once in a blue moon is not gonna make you bankrupt”

The heart won and I was just looking for a right time to try one of the hotels. That is when I received a mail from Askme.com which made my heart and tummy happy 🙂 They wanted me to review a restaurant of my choice and write a blog post about it. The right time has arrived. I have decided that it should be a breakfast buffet. I want to experience that “have breakfast like a king” moment and Madras Pavilion – ITC Grand Chola was the best choice. ITC Grand Chola a 7 star hotel stands majestically on Mount road, Guindy. The first thing you will get bowled over by is the ambiance and interiors. It was almost like I entered in to a palace with huge chandeliers, detailed furniture and fluffy carpets. The staffs guide me to the Madras Pavilion where the breakfast buffet will be served.

Mostly the guests staying in the hotel have their complimentary breakfast there. There was no reservation for breakfast buffet but I was lucky enough to get a seat even on a weekend morning.

Once I sat comfortably, an attendant came immediately and asked if I would like to have coffee. The buffet starts with coffee. Dosas, omlets and parathas can be served on the table. He guided me on where they have kept different cuisines. After a strong filter coffee, I started my tour to have a look at the delicacies.

They have idlis, 2 types of vadas, 3 kinds of chutneys, sambar, pongal and Upma. Dosa station is arranged separately where they provided plain, sprout and multi grain dosa. Breads which you can toast as per your preference, corn flakes, chocos, pancakes, french toast with honey and maple syrup, sausages, bacon, baked beans etc

What I ate :Unfortunately, I was suffering from severe cold and the day before that went to costa coffee to try their new cold coffees (why? why me?) The Ac environment kind of aggravated my condition. So could not make use of the buffet options to the full

French toast and Pancakes were the best. God I crave for them right now!! The noodles could have been done better. Other dishes were good.

How much is the cost? Inr 1111/- including tax Value for money ? While dining at such places, we are not only paying for the food but for the whole experience. Considering the wide spread (I would have missed a few items), yes it is value for money if you make complete use of the buffet 🙂

Service, Ambience, Hygiene? Top notch. Over all, I truly enjoyed the luxurious experience at ITC grand chola. As my heart said, it is okay to experience such things once in a while. What you guys think?
